Merchweiler celebrates the big patron festival with fireworks and attractions!

Hans Gerhard Jene is the new mayor of Merchweiler and is responsible for the traditional fair. He hopes for an atmospheric patron festival that will delight all visitors. This year in particular, numerous rides and snack stands were organized. There are a total of seven rides available, including four classic attractions for children as well as large rides such as a bumper car, the “Miami” and the “Beach Polyp”.

The official opening of the fair will take place on Friday at 7 p.m. in the handball beer garden area. Mayor Sebastian Maas supports Jene in organizing the event. The rifle guild will fire a salute from the “Miami” to ceremoniously open the festival. A special highlight will be presented on Saturday at the fair: a fire show by the company “Prometheus Erben” starts at around 10:30 p.m. and is combined with an impressive fireworks display. This fireworks display will be quieter than usual as it includes approximately 600 effects and provides a beautiful visual experience.

Activities for the whole family

Free children's entertainment is planned on the fairground on Sunday and Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. These are kindly financed by the Illingen gasworks, so that even the little guests get their money's worth. On Monday at the fair, visitors can expect a traditional craft meal in the beer garden, which is served from 12 p.m. Stuffed with sauerkraut and bacon sauce are back on offer due to popular demand and cost €8.00.

For adults, a showmen's “happy hour” is offered on Friday from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m., during which reduced prices are available on some attractions. The operators of the rides and stalls start their operations at around 5 p.m. so that visitors can enjoy the festival to the fullest. Mayor Hans Gerhard Jene wishes all fair visitors a pleasant time and is particularly happy about guests from neighboring communities who enrich the fair.

In the last two years there have been repeated short-term cancellations by showmen, but for this year a new concept was developed to bring the fair back to a pre-Corona level. The organizational measures are already showing positive results in terms of both the number of rides and the variety of offerings.

The patron festival in Merchweiler is looking forward to an exciting year, and all signs point to it being a big festival for young and old. With a varied program and numerous highlights, visitors can look forward to an unforgettable experience.
