150 years of the Semerskirchen fire department: A celebration like fire and flames!

On June 7, 2025, the Semerskirchen Volunteer Fire Department celebrated a remarkable anniversary: 150 years of existence. The celebrations started with a festive service that took place in the picturesque surroundings of the forest kindergarten. Numerous members of the community as well as fellow firefighters from surrounding towns such as Herrngiersdorf, Sittelsdorf and Wahlsdorf-Birnbach were present on this important day to honor the achievements and history of the fire department. The village festival, the highlight of the celebrations, was held in the Müller Hall in St. Johann and offered a platform for community and exchange.

The event began on Saturday evening when the fire brigades made a remarkable parade from Hofcafé Sentehanser to the forest clearing at the forest kindergarten, which underlined the fire brigade's connection to the community. It was not only a day of celebration, but also of commemoration of 150 years of volunteer service and tireless commitment to the safety of citizens.

Celebrations in Schledehausen

The festival weekend in Schledehausen offers an extensive program with many attractions. On Friday, June 13th, the association meeting of the Altkreis Osnabrück Fire Brigade Association will take place, in which around 300 members will take part. A village festival will be organized on Saturday June 14th, featuring the band “Back to the Roots”, a DJ and a spectacular laser show. Admission for this starts at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 15th, continues with an impressive blue light mile with over 70 large vehicles from various rescue organizations.

Diverse offers for the whole family

There are a variety of activities for the children, including bouncy castles, a Unimog course and free face painting. A special highlight are the helicopter sightseeing flights offered by Agrarflug Helilift GmbH & Co. KG. A concert with nine choirs from Bissendorf will also provide a festive setting and present the cultural diversity of the region.

The culinary offering also leaves nothing to be desired: Wißmann Catering, Fischerkate Braun and the DRK will provide the food. The entire program promises a feast for all the senses, complemented by a large cafeteria and a tombola with attractive prizes. Parking is available at the event site to make your visit convenient.

In summary, both the celebrations in Semerskirchen and those in Schledehausen represent the commitment and community ties that have arisen through the fire service work. Both events are not only a look back at history, but also a celebration of the future and the ongoing commitment to citizen safety.
