Saarbrücken is expecting thousands: dm company run causes traffic chaos!
On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the fourth “dm” company run will take place in downtown Saarbrücken, which will start at 6 p.m. Several thousand runners are expected to gather at this popular event to be active together. In order to protect participants as best as possible, extensive traffic measures will be implemented and will apply from early afternoon.
From 4 p.m., the street “Am Stadtgraben” will be completely closed in both directions, which means a significant diversion of traffic. Access to the “Galeria Saarbrücken am St. Johanner Markt” car park is not possible between 5:50 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., but you can exit at any time. The parking garage at the State Theater will also be completely closed from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., with additional restrictions from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and from 6:15 p.m. to around 7 p.m.
Traffic disruptions in the city center
The traffic disruptions begin at 5 p.m. and particularly affect the “Am Stadtgraben” area and the adjacent streets Mainzer Straße and Bismarckstraße. These closures will be lifted after the runners have passed. In addition, the towpath along the Saar between “Schillerplatz” and the former Ministry of Finance will also be completely closed from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to move to the Alt-Saarbrücken side.
There are no-parking zones in many streets that are part of the running route, especially in Schillerplatz, Mainzer Straße and other adjacent streets. Traffic disruptions in the inner city area are therefore to be expected, which is why recommendations for the use of public transport are being strengthened. Participants must also be prepared for the fact that traffic will have to stop briefly at 6 p.m. when the runners cross Paul-Marien-Straße at the intersection with Bismarckstraße.
After the event
After the event, the “After Run Party” will take place from 10 p.m., with traffic “Am Stadtgraben” being reopened afterwards. Traffic will be opened from 11 p.m., so the city center will remain closed until then. These measures are necessary to ensure the safety of participants and to ensure that the event runs smoothly.
