On June 9, 2025, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new “Maria am Brunnen” senior center took place in Hürth-Alstädten-Burbach. With this modern project, Caritas Rhein-Erft would like to significantly improve the care of older people in the region. The spacious property area of ​​over 13,000 square meters will be home to the new center, which will have three floors and 80 fully inpatient care places.

The senior center is scheduled to go into operation at the beginning of 2028. It will replace the previous St. Ursula senior center on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße and is distinguished by an innovative living and care concept. The outdoor area will feature multiple garden areas, including a sensory garden. Parking spaces are also provided for cars and bicycles, some of which will be equipped with electric charging stations.

The construction work requires investments of around 14.1 million euros. The shell construction work is scheduled to begin this year. The new building also meets the KfW energy efficiency standard 40, which includes numerous ecological measures. This includes the installation of an air-water heat pump, the construction of a photovoltaic system, extensive green roofs and the use of sustainable building materials in accordance with the guidelines of the GEG 2024.

The “Maria am Brunnen” senior center follows a holistic care approach that includes activating care to maintain and promote one's own abilities and resources.
