Billy goat tradition inspires at Rhineland-Palatinate Day in Neustadt!

On May 26, 2025, the opening parade of Rhineland-Palatinate Day took place in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, which attracted numerous visitors. In addition to cultural entertainment, visitors can also expect physical supplies and children's entertainment, which makes the event attractive for the whole family.

As part of the billy goat tradition, the famous Billy Goat March takes place, which begins on the Tuesday after Pentecost at 5:30 a.m. The historic march leads from Lambrecht (Palatinate) train station to Deidesheim train station and is an unforgettable experience for many participants. The route is clearly marked and leads through picturesque landscapes and vineyards.

The Geißbockmarsch has its own route description, which includes special places and climbs:

  • Vor dem Bahnhof Lambrecht (Pfalz) nach links die Treppe zur B39 hinunter, dann rechts halten.
  • Entlang der Bahnlinie bis nach Lindenberg (Pfalz) wandern.
  • Im Wald den Anstieg zur Passhöhe „Alte Schanz“ nehmen.
  • Verschiedene Pfade führen durch reizvolle Landschaften zur Waldschänke und weiter zum Bahnhof Deidesheim.
