The longest long-distance hiking trail in Europe stretches over an impressive 8,000 kilometers and offers hiking enthusiasts a very special kind of adventure. Around 1,900 kilometers of this path run through Germany, including an attractive section in Rhineland-Palatinate that stretches over 114 kilometers. This route is divided into five stages and offers hikers lots of nature and breathtaking views. Mercury reports that this hiking trail is not only a highlight for nature lovers, but also offers well-planned sections.
The routes defined by the E-Weg network cover at least three European countries. These cross-border hiking trails, maintained by member organizations, form an extensive network of more than 52,000 kilometers. Nine of the European long-distance hiking trails (E1 to E11) run for around 9,700 kilometers through Germany. Particularly well-known are the paths E1, E3, E4, E5, E6, E8, E9, E10 and E11, which run through various landscapes and regions. Hiking Germany informs that existing national and supra-regional hiking routes were also included in the design of these trails.
