Price adjustment in Luxembourg: Diesel and Super 98 are becoming cheaper!
The Luxembourg Ministry of Energy has announced new maximum prices for fuels, which will apply from Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 00:00. According to lokalo.de, the liter of diesel fuel is 1.2 cents cheaper and then costs 1.364 euros. For Super 95 the price remains stable at 1.458 euros per liter, while Super 98 (SuperPlus) is reduced by 1.6 cents, bringing the price down to 1.558 euros per liter.
These price adjustments are particularly relevant because refueling in Luxembourg is generally cheaper than in Germany. This attracts many drivers from the Trier and Saarland area, who often head to Luxembourg gas stations to benefit from the lower prices. Current petrol prices in Luxembourg show a slightly increasing trend before the new changes, as sol.de reports.
Current gasoline prices in comparison
As of March 27, 2025, prices in Luxembourg were:
- Super 98: 1,574 Euro (Anstieg um 2,6 Cent)
- Super 95: 1,504 Euro (Anstieg um 3,1 Cent)
- Diesel: 1,436 Euro (unverändert)
In comparison, prices for E-10 gasoline in Saarland cost an average of 1,736 euros, which is 17 cents more than in Luxembourg. The difference is also noticeable in the Trier area at 23 cents, as prices here are also 1.736 euros. Diesel prices in Saarland are 1.60 euros (17 cents more than in Luxembourg), while in the Trier area they are 1.65 euros (22 cents more).
The future price reductions in Luxembourg once again confirm the attractiveness for drivers from neighboring regions who want to benefit from the prices. Developments remain to be closely monitored as markets can change dynamically regionally and internationally, which could result in further adjustments in fuel prices.
