In a recent consumer warning, the Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (Alva) has issued a recall of Italian ice cream sundaes from the “Mucci” brand. The recall affects the double packs of the “Nocciola” and “Triple Chocolate” varieties that were sold at Aldi between March 10 and May 22, 2025. The reason for the measure is possible pieces of glass in individual products, which is why consumers are urged not to consume the affected items and to return them to an Aldi branch. In addition, there is another recall related to Aldi, which warns of possible wood splinters in an ice cream product called "Mucci - Mini Mix. 3 different types of chocolate". This recall was initiated by DMK Eis GmbH for reasons of preventive consumer protection. The affected packaging contains 12 x 50 ml (600 ml in total) and the best before dates are dated April 3rd to 5th, 2021. Here too, a quick return without a receipt is possible at Aldi Nord, whereby the full purchase price will be refunded. Loud Focus Wood splinters can cause health risks such as the risk of punctures, difficulty breathing and the risk of suffocation.

Returning the affected ice cream cartons is straightforward: consumers simply need to return the items to the relevant Aldi branches, where a refund of the purchase price will be guaranteed without a receipt. To ensure that the products in your own store are involved, Aldi advises checking on the company website which company the store you are purchasing belongs to.
The cause of the wood splinters in the Mini Mix is a defect in the production system, which has now been resolved. The responsible manufacturer, DMK, has set up a hotline on 02582/770 to answer consumer questions and provide further information.
