On May 26, 2025, the first results of the qualification for the Ladies Open Saar in Merzig were announced. The first day of qualification brought six of the 14 German women who started to the finish line. These players will fight for the remaining free places in the main draw on Tuesday. The main draw and qualification attract both local and numerous international players. This brings an interesting dynamic to the tournament and leads to expected exciting matches. The challenges of tournament organization
There is a particular challenge with regard to the anniversary edition of the Heching women's world ranking tournament, which will take place in 2024. This tournament is part of the DTB Internationals and the ITF World Tennis Tour. Over 500 players are expected to take part, of which only the best 32 will be eligible for qualification and the main draw. The organizers are doing everything they can to meet the high ITF requirements.
With a total prize money of 60,000 US dollars and the award of a new car from KIA worth 16,000 euros as an anniversary prize, interest in the event is high. Competitions begin with the sign-in and draw on Sunday, while the first qualifying round begins a day later at 12 p.m.
In total, up to 8,000 spectators are expected to flock to the stadiums during the tournament week to support the participants. A lively atmosphere is enhanced by planned live music after the games. In collaboration with over 120 volunteers, TC Hechingen strives to create a pleasant environment that appeals to fans and players alike. The new board team under Oliver Unger is also working on securing the contracts to continue the tournament and continue to attract sponsors.
