Students from the Kornbrust Frischmuth Foundation show creative masterpieces!

Today, on June 6, 2025, the students of the first sponsored class of the “Kornbrust Frischmuth Foundation – Poetry and Sculpture” presented their creative works at a vernissage in the auditorium of the Türkismühle Community School. This fifth class, which describes itself as a “class with a heart for nature and culture,” has made numerous visits to the home and studio of the late sculptor Leo Kornbrust, also known as “Damra,” since December of last year.

The 27 students were allowed to work in the artist's studio and get to know him during regular visits. Kornbrust, who died in 2021, left behind an important cultural legacy with his sculptures and works of art, which provided important impulses for the artistic development of the students. During the vernissage, the impressive results of this creative work were presented to the public. Saarbrücken newspaper reports that the works reflect the inspiration of Kornbrust's art.

Creative learning and cultural heritage

Active participation in this project not only opened up new creative opportunities for the students, but also created an awareness of the cultural importance of art. The use of materials and their own creative expression were central elements of the artistic training, which the children learned through the encouragement and instruction in the studio.

Particular attention was paid to conveying the values that Leo Kornbrust embodied in his work. His legacy as a sculptor is of great importance to the region and is actively kept alive through projects like this. WNDN emphasizes that such initiatives contribute not only to the artistic but also to the personal development of the students.

By presenting their works at school, the children not only demonstrated their own abilities, but also further strengthened their connection to art and culture. The commitment within the framework of the “Kornbrust Frischmuth Foundation” is therefore an important step towards more sustainable cultural learning in the region.
