In the Neunkirchen district, the St. Ludwig daycare center in Spiesen-Elversberg is being upgraded with new attractions for a total of 500,000 euros. These expansion measures are taking place in a currently vacant floor beneath a supermarket. The newly created offerings include, among other things, funny fish and a playground in the facility's courtyard. The outdoor area of the daycare center covers around 1000 square meters and the construction work on the outdoor area is almost complete Saarbrücken newspaper reported.
The variety of new attractions is intended to support the pedagogical approach of daycare-wide education and at the same time offer the children a place to play and develop. The investment in the new play facilities is part of a comprehensive strategy to improve care and education offerings in the region.
Innovative educational offerings at the St. Maximin Pachten daycare center
Another pleasing event in the Saarlouis district is the award of the St. Maximin Pachten daycare center as a “daycare center of sustainability”. This honor was awarded in September 2024 by the Minister of Culture and Education, Christine Streichert-Clivot. The daycare center stands out particularly for its many years of educational work in the areas of environmental and nature conservation, values education and children's rights. The award makes St. Maximin Pachten one of the first institutions in Saarland to receive this honor, according to information from Kita Saar.
The daycare's teaching staff maintain good contacts with various clubs and municipal institutions, such as NABU, the Dillinger Beekeepers' Association and the animal shelter. This network work enables regular visits and projects in nature, which act as outdoor educational spaces for the children. In addition, the children at the Dillingen fire department can gain exciting insights into the tasks and equipment of the emergency services, which contributes to practical education.

A key feature of the Kita St. Maximin Pachten is the smooth design of the transitions from the parents' home to the facility. This provides security for both children and parents. The daycare center also cooperates with the Roman school to optimally prepare prospective school children for their upcoming start to school.
The facility sees itself as an educational partner for parents and promotes various forms of parent work. This includes regular parents' evenings, meetings with the parents' committee and the support association as well as the "Give Time" project, in which parents are invited to offer their own activities in the daycare center. Religious education is also an important part of the annual planning, with stories about Jesus accompanying the children in their development.
