According to information from NR-Kurier, temperatures between 23 and 29 degrees can be expected from Friday. On Saturday temperatures could even rise to 30 degrees in many areas.
These summer temperatures are accompanied by lots of sunshine and predominantly dry weather. Isolated loosening is possible on Friday night and no significant precipitation is expected. However, the pleasant weather is overshadowed by a warning from the German Weather Service (DWD).
Risk of thunderstorms this weekend
There could be intense thunderstorms, especially on Saturday. The DWD warns of the danger of heavy rain, hail and squalls. The forecasts indicate variable cloudy conditions, with showers and sometimes strong thunderstorms potentially dominating the weather situation in some areas. Temperatures on Saturday will range between 27 and 30 degrees, while at high altitudes around 24 degrees are expected.
As the DWD reports, extensions of a low pressure system are moving eastwards today, which is affecting the north of Rhineland-Palatinate. However, from Friday onwards an intermediate high will prevail and warm Mediterranean air will cause the temperature to rise. Today only isolated rain is expected in the north, with highs between 19 and 22 degrees.
Outlook for Sunday
The warm weather is forecast to continue on Sunday, although isolated showers and thunderstorms could occur. Temperatures are expected to be between 23 and 27 degrees, with high altitudes around 20 degrees. There is a risk of severe weather again, as the intensity of the thunderstorm could increase.
