Rhineland-Palatinate Day inspires: 25,000 visitors celebrate in Neustadt!
The Rhineland-Palatinate Day in Neustadt an der Weinstraße successfully opened its doors today. On the first day, a Friday, around 25,000 visitors were counted. Organizers and police report a pleasant start without any special incidents. Prime Minister Alexander Schweitzer (SPD) praised the pleasant atmosphere and the new concept, which focuses on smaller parades.
Around 225,000 visitors are expected by Sunday, which underlines the attractiveness of the festival. The security concept plays a crucial role here, as entry and random checks were carried out properly. The festival area covers an area that offers space for 300 exhibitors and 50 food and market stalls.
Diverse program and entertainment
The offer includes a wine village, a historical fair and live music with artists such as Michael Schulte, Kamrad and Nik Kershaw. Saturday will be dedicated to the citizens' dialogue, where Prime Minister Schweitzer will invite citizens to participate in discussions. Rhineland-Palatinate Day was launched in 1984 and last took place in Bad Ems in 2023. Around 125,000 visitors were also expected there, with the highlight being the traditional parade, in which around 2,200 people took part and 66 train numbers were presented. Prime Minister Malu Dreyer emphasized the important role of the festival for encounters.
The festival area in Bad Ems was significantly larger, with around 700,000 square meters and around 650 stands as well as tents and participation opportunities. The singer Max Mutzke was responsible for the musical conclusion, and the police and emergency services ensured that the event ran safely. It was the second time that the festival took place in Bad Ems after 2005. In the future, the festival will be held every two years in order to meet the increased challenges for major events.
Neustadt an der Weinstraße hosted the Rhineland-Palatinate Day in 2010 and will also host the State Garden Show in 2027. The success of the event shows how important such opportunities are for exchange and cooperation between people.
Localo reports on the successful start in Neustadt, while n-tv informed about last year's event in Bad Ems, which was very well received with a diverse program and numerous visitors.
