Rhineland-Palatinate Day 2025: Neustadt celebrates with 225,000 visitors!
On May 23, 2025, the Rhineland-Palatinate Day 2025 was ceremoniously opened in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. Under the motto “Together we are Rhineland-Palatinate” numerous visitors gathered to celebrate the diverse state festival. The organizers expect a number of around 225,000 people to take part in the activities. The opening was led by Prime Minister Alexander Schweitzer (SPD) and Mayor Marc Weigel (FWG), who together took the first official steps of the festival.
A special highlight of the opening ceremony was the cabinet meeting of the Rhineland-Palatinate cabinet at Hambach Castle, where the government members signed the Golden Book of the city and the castle. This represents not only an honor for the city, but also a deep-rooted tradition that symbolizes the connection to the history of the region.
A program for all senses
The festival area is extensively designed and offers space for 300 exhibitors as well as 50 food and market stalls. Attractions include a wine village and a historic fair, adding to the atmosphere of Rhineland-Palatinate Day. Visitors can look forward to live music with artists such as Michael Schulte, Kamrad and Nik Kershaw, who will add musical highlights to the festival.
This year, instead of a traditional pageant, a varied event format will be presented, including colorful parades and a dance event. Prime Minister Schweitzer will take part in the first parade on Friday evening, while a twilight drink with wine tasting for a good cause is on the program on Saturday. There will also be a reception for the citizens by the Prime Minister on Sunday.
Cultural insights and participation
Rhineland-Palatinate Day, which has been celebrated since 1984, is intended to offer citizens the opportunity to get to know their federal state from new perspectives. As part of the festival, exciting city tours are offered that provide insights into democracy, the city's history, committed women and the world of wine. These themed tours are free of charge and can be booked via the official Rhineland-Palatinate Day website.
In addition, a small medieval market will be part of the event, which will prepare the mood for a larger medieval market in June 2025. Information for partners and sponsors to get involved in this major event is also available. For Neustadt, Rhineland-Palatinate Day is not only a celebration, but also an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming celebrations for the 750th anniversary of the city's rights.
The city of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse lives the tradition of Rhineland-Palatinate Day, having already acted as host in 2010. In 2027, Neustadt will also be the venue for the State Garden Show and will thus once again be in the public eye.
