After the storms: summer is coming back with 30 degrees!

After the long Pentecost weekend, the period of severe weather in southwest Germany has finally come to an end. From Tuesday, June 10, 2025, temperatures can be expected to rise to 30 degrees. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts that the showery rainfall, thunderstorms and stormy squalls that dominated the weather in the previous days are over for the time being. Sunshine is expected during the day, but temperatures could drop to single digits at night reports the Rheinpfalz.

Cloudy weather is forecast for Whit Monday itself. With maximum temperatures of 17 degrees in the mountains and 23 degrees in the Rhine Valley, clouds and occasional rain are still expected for the day. The wind is blowing lightly, taking the weather from the humid and changeable phase to more stable conditions.

Forecasts for the coming days

On Tuesday, the south of Germany will benefit from mostly sunshine. In comparison, the north will remain mostly cloudy but dry. The maximum values vary between 20 degrees in the northern Black Forest and 27 degrees in Breisgau. A similar weather development is expected for Wednesday, with temperatures able to rise up to 30 degrees in Freiburg. The DWD emphasizes that the thunderstorm activity on Monday could occur primarily in the northern half, while Tuesday night will bring heavy rain there.

On Tuesday night the temperature will drop to 12 to 7 degrees, while values of around 4 degrees are expected in the mountains. On Wednesday itself it will remain mostly dry and sunny, although there could be some clouds. Highs between 17 and 30 degrees give hope for pleasant weather. Thursday night will be partly cloudy or clear, cooling down to 14 to 6 degrees emphasizes the DWD.

Overall, after the uncomfortable Whitsun days, the weather is much friendlier and warmer again, especially in the south of Germany. As the week progresses, increasingly pre-summer temperatures can set in, which should encourage many people to enjoy the sun and spend the hoped-for warm days outdoors.
