Three women die in a tragic accident on Lake Constance - B31 closed!

On June 4, 2025, a tragic traffic accident occurred on federal highway 31 near Überlingen on Lake Constance in which three elderly women aged 71, 74 and 75 lost their lives. The accident happened at rush hour and led to a massive closure of the road between Überlingen-Ost and Nußdorf Rhine Palatinate reported.

The cause of the accident remains unclear: For reasons that are still unclear, a 75-year-old driver crossed into the oncoming lane in a right-hand bend and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. There were also three passengers in this vehicle. The fire department had to free several people involved from the wreckage. In another incident on the B31 on April 5, a 61-year-old driver drove her Corsa into the oncoming lane and crashed into a trailer that had separated from a Mercedes C-Class. There was a collision with an Audi A1, the driver of which suffered minor injuries. This incident also led to a partial closure of the B31, which lasted for several hours.
