91-year-old victim of a handbag robbery in Ludwigshafen! Looking for clues!
On Saturday morning, around 11:45 a.m., a 91-year-old lady in Ludwigshafen-Mundenheim was the victim of a handbag robbery. The incident occurred on Maximilianstrasse when an unknown perpetrator approached the elderly woman and distracted her with an excuse. In a careless moment, the man grabbed the handbag that was hanging from the handle of her walker and then escaped in a vehicle. Despite an immediate search, the perpetrator was able to escape undetected.
The police describe the perpetrator as being around 1.85 to 1.90 meters tall and of a strong build. At the time of the crime he was dressed in jeans and a T-shirt. The investigators are now asking for information from the public in order to catch the perpetrator. Witnesses are asked to call 0621 / 963-24150 or email piludwigshafen1@polizei.rlp.de to provide valuable information about the incident or the getaway vehicle, such as MRN News reported.
Growing problem of scooter thefts
Ludwigshafen also faces the challenge of increasing scooter thefts, which primarily attract young people. The police and public prosecutor's office report successful investigation results in this area. Since the beginning of the year, over 200 scooters have been stolen. A large number of these scooters were not only stolen, but also set on fire to cover up the tracks.
There have been several arrests in recent months: a 20-year-old was sentenced to one and a half years in prison in January, while a 14-year-old was recently charged. A 16-year-old who was arrested in mid-February is in custody on charges of grand theft. Two 18-year-olds are also the focus of the investigation; one of them is suspected of being responsible for 25 scooter thefts. The phenomenon shows that the perpetrators usually act in groups, although it remains unclear whether there are masterminds in the background and how SWR reports.
The situation continues to escalate, as shown by an incident on Monday in which three teenagers on a stolen scooter were arrested after a chase at Rheingönheim train station. Three slightly injured young people were handed over to their parents and property damage amounted to 3,500 euros. In addition, on Tuesday night, three unknown perpetrators set fire to a stolen scooter in the Oppau district of Ludwigshafen, causing significant damage of around 11,000 euros.
