Christian Pehofer becomes the new district captain of Baden!
With a decision made at the meeting of the Lower Austrian state government, Mag. Christian Pehofer was appointed as the new district governor of Baden. This appointment comes into force with immediate effect and follows the predecessor, Mag. Verena Sonnleitner, who has been working as deputy state office director since March 2023. Pehofer, who was born in 1980, studied law at the University of Linz and brings extensive experience from the state service.
His professional career began in 2004 as a construction engineer in the state highway planning department. Over the years he held various positions, first as head of the plant law department at the Waidhofen/Thaya district administration and later as head of security and order in Krems. He was also deputy district captain in Scheibbs and St. Pölten and took over management of the Gmünd district administration on March 1, 2023.
Successor to Verena Sonnleitner
Verena Sonnleitner, who succeeded Pehofer, joined the Lower Austrian state service in 2001. Her career included positions as deputy district governor in Bruck an der Leitha and Mödling as well as the role of district governor in Mistelbach from December 2014 to March 2018. She then worked as district governor in Baden until March 2025.
The appointment of Pehofer is seen as an important step for the Baden district administration, as his experience in the state service means he is well equipped to overcome the challenges ahead. With a clear focus on security, order and infrastructure, he would like to continue and further develop the work of the district administration in Baden.
